Names match your records
Names are romanized to the spelling in your passport or prior filings — you tell us the spelling in the order form, and we apply it consistently across every document in your order.
Era dates keep the original and add the Western year
The certificate prints dates in Japanese eras. The translation keeps the era as written and adds the Western year in parentheses, so the officer can match the source and read the date without a conversion table.

How to read this sample

Given names only under each person
A koseki records the family surname once, in the Name field at the top of the register. Each person’s entry then shows the given name only, so “Taro” here is YAMADA Taro. We keep that structure rather than repeating the surname, because the officer compares the translation against the original line by line.
Previous Family Register traces the family
On marriage, a spouse moves out of the parents’ register and into the new one. The entry records the domicile and head of the register they came from, which is how one document proves parentage and marriage at the same time.
Era dates keep the original and add the Western year
The register prints dates in Japanese eras. The translation keeps the era as written and adds the Western year in parentheses, so the officer can match the source and read the date without a conversion table.

Registers with more people, divorces, adoptions, or corrections follow the same structure across as many pages as the original. Notes 1–4 above (names, dates, seals, layout) apply here as well.

Company registry documents follow the same conventions

A Japanese corporate registry extract (certificate of registered matters) is delivered in the registry's own table structure — trade name, head office, officers, capital, and the amendment history. The company below is fictitious and shown for illustration only.
