Who translates your documents
Japan Translations is based in Wakayama, Japan. Your documents are translated by a professional Japanese-English document translator who has worked on official records since 2021, following 17 years in the software industry working bilingually in Japanese and English, including web service localization. We do not outsource any part of our work: the translator who prepares your document is the person whose name, signature, and contact details appear on the certificate.
What we translate
We translate official documents exclusively, working in both directions between Japanese and English: family registers (koseki), residence certificates (juminhyo), marriage and divorce acceptance certificates, death certificates, bank statements and balance certificates, company registry extracts, affidavits, and vehicle export certificates. Because we do not accept general translation assignments, we handle the layouts, terminology, and submission requirements for these specific records every day rather than researching them per order.
How translations are prepared
- Every entry is translated in full, including registry annotations, official seals, stamps, and issuing officer details. Nothing is summarized or omitted.
- The page layout mirrors the original document so reviewing officers can compare each field line by line.
- Names are romanized to match your passport or prior filings, and kept consistent throughout.
- Documents are processed using professional translation software under terms that prohibit any other use of your content, and each translation is reviewed and finalized directly by the translator. Your documents are never used to train AI models.
- Uploaded files and completed translations are deleted 90 days after delivery, or earlier upon request. We retain only the certificate number, issue date, and document type so receiving authorities can verify an issued certificate.
What the certificate includes
Every order is issued with a signed and numbered Certificate of Translation Accuracy. It certifies that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from Japanese into English. The certificate includes the issue date, the translator's full name and signature, a postal address and telephone number in Japan, and a statement of the translator's qualifications and professional experience in English. These are the elements USCIS, UKVI, and the Australian Department of Home Affairs each ask for. A specimen is on the sample translation page.

We do not rely on paraphrased summaries of submission rules. Our pages for USCIS, UKVI, Australian immigration, and IRCC quote official regulations and guidance verbatim, name the source, and show the date we last reviewed it. Where a translation certified in Japan is insufficient for a specific agency, such as certain US state DMVs, we say so before you order.
