Proof of funds for the Youth Mobility Scheme
The GOV.UK eligibility guidance for the Youth Mobility Scheme visa requires £2,530 in your bank account, held for 28 consecutive days, with the 28th day falling within 31 days of the date you apply. These 28 days are counted back from the closing balance date of your most recent financial evidence (Immigration Rules Appendix Finance, FIN 7.2), and your balance must not have dropped below the threshold at any point during that period. For this reason, the document to submit is a transaction history covering the entire period rather than a single-day balance certificate.
Japanese banks issue this transaction record under various names, all in Japanese: Japan Post Bank's 通常貯金預払状況調書, a shinkin bank's 預金取引履歴照会票, MUFG's 取引推移一覧表, or bank passbook printouts showing the account holder, the period, and every entry. Each requires a certified translation covering the four requirements listed above. On the order form, provide the spelling of your name as shown in your passport; the translation uses that spelling throughout, so that the account holder on the statement matches the applicant on your visa application.

If you are applying from inside the UK, caseworker guidance also requires the translator's credentials on the certified translation. Common questions
Does UKVI require a certified or sworn translator?
No. GOV.UK’s requirements are a written confirmation of accuracy, the date, the translator’s full name, and contact details. There is no accreditation or location requirement for applications made from outside the UK.
I am applying from inside the UK — does anything change?
Yes. Caseworker guidance requires the translation to include the translator or translation company’s credentials for in-UK applications. Our certificate carries a credentials section covering this, and the order form asks where you are applying from.
What does "independently verified by the Home Office" mean for my translation?
UKVI supporting-document guidance asks for a translation that the Home Office can verify independently. Our certificate lists reachable contact details, and this website allows the Home Office to verify the translation service by name.
My Japanese bank can issue a balance certificate in English. Do I still need a translation?
Often yes. A balance certificate states the balance on one date, so on its own it cannot show that the money was held for a required period. That is shown by a transaction history, and Japanese banks generally issue those in Japanese only. Which Japanese documents are most often translated for UKVI?
Family registers (koseki) for spouse and family visas, marriage and divorce acceptance certificates, bank statements as proof of funds, and residence certificates (juminhyo).
