Covered documents and expected page counts
We translate certificates of all registered matters and current registered matters (rireki jiko zenbu shomeisho and genzai jiko zenbu shomeisho, titled Certificate of Historical Information and Certificate of Current Information on the Legal Affairs Bureau's own English application form), articles of incorporation (teikan), and related corporate certificates. A certificate of current registered matters is usually 2 to 4 pages long. A full historical certificate can be longer depending on the company's amendment history. At $24.95 per page, a 3-page extract costs $74.85. Articles of incorporation are longer free-text documents and may be quoted individually based on length, always with one fixed total confirmed before you pay.
Registry extracts carry small registrar seals, so send complete, legible scans of every page. Anything genuinely unreadable in the source document is marked [illegible] in the translation rather than guessed.
If the receiving party asks for notarization or an apostille
Many banks and compliance teams accept a certified translation with a signed certificate of accuracy, but certain courts and registries require more. Our standard deliverable is not notarized. If the receiving party requires a notarized translator's affidavit, it is available as an add-on quoted individually. Please allow 1 to 2 weeks, as our 48-hour delivery timeframe does not apply to notarized orders. Apostilles and consular legalization are not offered, and we do not file documents with any authority on your behalf. Common questions
Can I get an English registry extract directly from the Legal Affairs Bureau?
No. Japanese corporate registry certificates are issued in Japanese only. Authorities and institutions abroad require a certified English translation prepared from the official Japanese document.
Do I need notarization or an apostille?
This depends entirely on the receiving party. Many overseas banks and compliance teams accept our certified translation with a signed certificate of accuracy, while some courts and public registries require notarization as well. Our standard deliverable is not notarized. A notarized translator’s affidavit is available as an optional add-on quoted separately (taking 1 to 2 weeks). We do not provide apostilles. Check the receiving party’s written requirements before ordering, or send us their exact wording and we will confirm what we can provide before you pay.
How many pages will my registry extract be?
A certificate of current registered matters is typically 2 to 4 pages. A full historical certificate may be longer, depending on the company’s amendment history. Pricing is calculated per page of the Japanese source document, and our volume discount applies automatically to orders of three or more documents.
Do you translate articles of incorporation (teikan) as well?
Yes. Articles of incorporation are longer, open-format documents, so depending on length we may quote them individually. You will always receive one fixed total before committing.
